Management of acute low back pain ranges from conservative to intensive.

Back pain is so common that most of us needn’t run to the doctor for help. Conservative pain management includes; brief rest, cold packs & pain relievers.

Bed rest may be appropriate for 1 or 2 days, but should be limited. During this time, you should not perform tasks that may place strain on your back, such as walking, house cleaning, sitting & lifting. Your may try some gentle stretches to keep your back muscles flexible.

Prevention is the most important management technique & even plays a prominent role in rehabilitating people with difficult to treat pain. Prevention includes; exercise, eating a well-balanced diet, stopping smoking, weight loss & good body mechanics (such as posture, proper lifting techniques & workspace ergonomics).

When these methods fail, more intensive treatment is needed. This occurs in approximately 5% of people with acute back pain. Triangle Spinal Decompression is the place to start for back pain that fails to respond to initial conservative measures. Instead of starting with prescription drugs & surgery, we utilize proven non-invasive procedures to treat the cause of your pain.
