Study Shows Effectiveness of Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy

 Summary:

Recent studies indicate that non-surgical spinal decompression therapy is a game-changer for those struggling with chronic low back pain (LBP) due to disc issues. This study aimed to investigate whether this therapy not only reduces pain but also helps regenerate spinal discs.

Study Overview:

Researchers conducted a retrospective cohort study involving adults experiencing chronic LBP from disc herniation or discogenic LBP. They underwent a 6-week treatment using computerized non-surgical spinal decompression therapy, monitored by CT scans before & after treatment. Pain levels were measured on a scale of 0 to 10 & disc height changes were assessed.

Key Findings:

Among the participants with lumbar disc herniation, significant improvements were observed. Throughout the treatment, LBP decreased from an average of 6.2 to 1.6 on the pain scale, while disc height increased from 7.5 mm to 8.8 mm. Notably, there was a positive correlation between the increase in disc height & the reduction in pain.

Implications:

The findings demonstrate non-surgical spinal decompression’s effectiveness in alleviating LBP & promoting disc height restoration. This correlation implies that pain reduction could also be linked to disc regeneration.
